“Let’s Make” a Buckram Hat

Learn to make a buckram hat with the third class in our “Let’s Make” series “‘Let’s Make” A Buckram Hat Students will learn : Pattern Adjustment (pattern download provided) Fusing Buckram Layers Frame Assembly Wiring The Frame Fabric Covering Putting it all together Tips for Lining and Finishing Your Hat This class is suitable for those who are new to buckram, or if you want to refresh, or improve your buckram skills. Tools and Supplies that you will need: Buckram ( approx 1 yard) * optional: Cotton Crinoline (tarlatan) aprox one yard Millinery Wire (instructor prefers gauge 19, but 18 will also work) aprox 2 1/2 yards wire cutters craft paper paper and fabric scissors fashion fabric lining fabric pencils, markers 18″ x 2″ clear ruler tape measure flat surface to work on millinery block or head form (styrofoam is ok) push pins or T-pins scotch tape in a weighted dispenser optional: grosgrain , or petersham ribbon to finish the head fitting lightweight interfacing (instructor prefers fusible tricot) *If you need one, a supply kit can be purchased below* 2 Saturday sessions – January 8th and 15th 12 pm -3 pm EST in Zoom $150 for six hours of instruction limit 10 students in this class (Must download Zoom on your computer in advance of the class time. A camera to participate is good, but if you prefer to have the camera off that is fine too.) A Zoom link and a pattern download will be sent to your email soon after registration.
